Mexico defends its sovereignty and integrity against petty interests

A general proclaims the nation's unwavering strength in the face of adversity, in an unprecedented historical event.

The Echo of an Unbreakable Nation

Under the vast sky of Mexico City, in the beating heart of the Plaza de la Constitución, a voice of steel and conviction was raised to proclaim a truth that runs through the spine of an entire country. The Secretary of National Defense, General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, not only gave a speech; He embodied the warrior spirit of a nation that refuses to bow down. With his gaze fixed on the horizon and in front of President Claudia Sheinbaum, his message was a roar that crossed time, reminding everyone and everyone that Mexico has resisted, with the fierceness of a titan, all attempts to violate its sacred sovereignty and stability.

“History has taught us,” he declared with a passion that electrified the air, “that the people of Mexico never give up. They resist! They rise up stronger and become stronger in the face of each challenge, in the face of each of those moments of uncertainty that have tried to break us.” Each word was a hammer blow against the anvils of history, an absolute repudiation of the petty interests that, from within and outside its borders, have conspired against its destiny. It was an epic narrative of resilience, where each chapter of adversity ends with the people standing tall, victorious.

The Sacred Pillars of National Existence

But the general did not stop there. With the precision of a strategist and the soul of a poet, he outlined the very essence of the nation’s defense. Citing the organic law of the Mexican Army and Air Force, he revealed the five heavenly mandates that guide its forces: defense, internal order, national progress, aid to society and, most crucial of all, the divine mission of defending integrity, independence and sovereignty. “Three pillars that support our existence as a nation,” he thundered, elevating these concepts to the category of sacred dogmas.

“Integrity,” he explained with an almost mystical fervor, “is the physical body of the Republic. A body that cannot be segregated, that must forever remain united, strong, without mutilation. Because its supreme strength resides in the indivisible unity of its territory!” Then, he turned his speech towards independence, which he described as the very breath of the homeland, the vital breath that allows the State to exercise its full freedom. “Without outside interference of any kind,” he warned, driving each syllable like a stake into the hearts of those who have tried, “without success.”

And finally, he reached the climax of his proclamation, the core of the entire national drama: sovereignty. “He is the invincible soul of the nation!” he exclaimed, transforming the square into a cathedral of patriotism. “It is the supreme power that resides in the people, the unbreakable will to chart their own course of government, with their own voice, free of all external influence.” It was more than a political concept; It was an oath carved in the fire and spirit of every Mexican.

A Parade That Wrote Its Own Chapter in History

This monumental speech was part of the commemoration of the Civic Military Parade for the 215th anniversary of Independence. But this was not just any parade. Oh no. This was an event that broke all the molds of the past and was etched in golden letters in the annals of the future. General Trevilla, with overflowing pride, highlighted its historical character: it was the first time that a female Head of State headed it. And as if fate had conspired to make it even more glorious, more than five thousand women from the armed institutions and the National Guard marched with firm steps, occupying leadership positions like never before seen.

With this unprecedented act, the Armed Forces not only displayed their impressive operational capacity, but also sent a message to the world: their commitment to equality and national unity is as ironclad as their oath to defend Mexico against any threat. It was a demonstration of strength, honor and evolution, a plot twist that fused tradition with progress in an indissoluble embrace. Every step, every salute, every look ahead was a pledge of loyalty to the sacred pillars of integrity, independence and sovereignty. The message was clear: the nation is one, it is strong and its destiny is written by its children, without concessions.

Vice Admiral appeals denial of protection for huachicol in the Navy

Manuel Roberto Farías Laguna seeks to reverse the ruling that keeps him detained by the huachicol network.

Vice Admiral Manuel Roberto Farías Laguna, accused of leading a huachicol network from the Navy, challenged the judicial decision that denied him protection. His defense presented an appeal for review before a Collegiate Court in Criminal Matters.

The court will define whether to admit or reject the appeal. If admitted, he will review the sentence of Judge Jorge Adrián Cruz Flores, who on June 22 denied federal protection. If he ratifies it, the Vice Admiral will continue to be held in the Altiplano prison.

Farías Laguna requested protection in October 2025, after Judge Mario Martínez Elizondo linked him to proceedings for organized crime and fuel trafficking. The FGR accuses him of leading an organization that operated the disembarkation of at least 31 vessels with fiscal huachicol at the customs of Altamira and Tampico, Tamaulipas.

Details of the accusation

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, a group of sailors and customs officials, led by brothers Manuel Roberto and Fernando Farías Laguna, would have coordinated the entry of stolen fuel during the six-year term of former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador. The network operated with complicity within the same institution.

The resolution of the Collegiate Court will be key for the legal future of the accused. The case shows the challenges in the fight against huachicol when it involves senior Navy commanders.

Former director of Pemex faces criminal proceedings in Atlacholoaya

Former director of Pemex claims fruit and judge orders medical attention in Atlacholoaya.

Entry to the Atlacholoaya prison

Víctor Rodríguez Padilla, former director of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), was admitted to the Observation and Classification Center of the Atlacholoaya prison after his arrest at the Benito Juárez mayor’s office in Mexico City. He is accused of family and vicarious violence, for attacking his wife in the presence of their youngest daughter.

During his first morning in the protection area for officials, he expressed dissatisfaction because they did not bring him fruit. The prison rule is that fruit is served only to those who are on a sick diet. Later they gave him pieces of melon, and other prisoners indicated that he probably paid for this benefit, a common practice in that area.

Rodríguez occupies a single cell, wears a beige uniform and plain tennis shoes. So far he has not received visits from family or friends. He also did not have companions at the accusation formulation hearing last Wednesday. Judge Consuelo Adriana Carrera Ortiz asked twice if there was any family member present, without receiving a response.

In that same hearing, the former official reported that he is undergoing treatment for a malignant tumor in the prostate. The judge ordered immediate medical attention.

“I am going to order that the corresponding letter be sent to the director of the Social Reintegration Center so that they can immediately provide medical attention and they must inform me within 24 hours,” said the judge.

Rodríguez tried to detail his medication, but the judge interrupted him: “I cannot order in this office that you be given these medications, because I am not a doctor; however, a doctor will determine if it is pertinent for you to take these medications.” Complaints have been registered in the prison about lack of medication.
