The legal drama that no one asked for but we all saw
It seems that the legal soap opera between Maribel Guardia and her ex-daughter-in-law, Imelda Garza Tuñón, for the custody of little José Julián has just had its final chapter. And, spoiler alert: it didn’t end as some expected. According to Ventaneando (the program that we all watch but don’t admit), the Costa Rican actresslost the lawsuit against Garza Tuñón, which means that the child’s guardianship returns to his mother. Who said that soap operas only show on TV?
From social networks to the courts: the path of discord
It all started in January, when Maribel, in an outburst of drama worthy of Twitter, accused Imelda of negligence and even of consuming alcohol and substances. Of course, Imelda did not remain silent and responded with “no, ma’am, not here“, denying everything and assuring that Guardia only wanted to take her son away for no reason. Come on, the classic “she said, she said” but with lawyers involved.
To add more fuel to the fire, in January the DIF gave Maribel temporary custody of the child for 10 days. Ten days. Enough for the memes to fly, but not enough for the thing to be resolved. In the end, the little boy returned to his mother, and here we are, months later, with a judge saying: “Imelda wins, Maribel loses, next case.”
And now what? The mystery of family coexistence
The only thing left in the air is what the relationship between Maribel and her grandson will be like. Imelda has said she is open to dialogue (translation: “we talk, but on my terms“), but no one knows when or how that will happen. Supervised visits? Photos on Instagram to prove that everything is fine? Time will tell, but in the meantime, this is already material for the next Laura Bozzo special.
For now, neither Maribel nor Imelda have confirmed or denied the news. Translation? Their lawyers probably told them: “chiton, this is still in process.” But hey, if Ventaneando said it, who are we to doubt?
