Final deadline to register your cell line
By official provision, Mexicans have until June 30 to register all their mobile phone lines. The procedure is mandatory and seeks to combat crimes such as extortion, fraud and harassment, by linking each number with a person’s identity.
To do this you need your official identification (INE or passport) and your CURP. Applies to any company and to both individuals and legal entities.
How to do it?
You can go in person to a branch of your operator with the aforementioned documents. Or do it online through your company’s portal or at [portal.crt.gob.mx](https://portal.crt.gob.mx/gestion-de-lineas-telefonicas-moviles).
The online process is similar in all cases:
- Enter your cell phone number and authenticate with an SMS code.
- Select the type of official identification.
- Take pictures of your badge (both sides).
- Complete facial recognition.
- Confirm your data and accept the privacy notice.
Each operator has slight variations, but the essential steps are the same. Telcel, Movistar and AT&T already have their portals enabled. Upon completion, the line will be linked to your identity.
Do not leave the process until the last day. If you don’t register your line by June 30, you could face service restrictions.
