The most polite goodbye in history
Attention classy gossip lovers! Majo Aguilar and Gil Cerezo, that couple who made us believe in love between musicians (because clearly, history is not full of terrible examples), decided to end their three-year romance. But don’t expect scandals, shouting, or spite songs composed at 3 a.m. with an empty tequila bottle. No, gentlemen. This was so civilized that it is even envious.
The granddaughter of Flor Silvestre, in an act of transparency worthy of a reality show (but without edited tears), confirmed in an Instagram live that their relationship ended months ago, but that they did it “with all the love in the world.” Translation? Not a broken plate, not a passive-aggressive tweet. Just pure respect and mutual admiration. Bored? Maybe. Ripe? Definitely.
And what does the groom think?
While Majo released statements as if he were in group therapy, Gil, the royal from Kinky, preferred strategic silence. “Thank you for your interest, but I’ll pass,” he said from Europe, probably between a concert and a coffee full of dignity. Reason? We don’t know, but if I had to bet, I would say that the man learned from other people’s mistakes and didn’t want to become a meme.
The funny thing is that just a few months ago, these two were talking about weddings as if they were going to exhaust the market for piñatas and mariachis. “Up to ten parties!” Majo joked at the time. What happened? Did you realize that planning a wedding is more stressful than recording a live album? Or did the magic just wear off between doing laundry together and traveling on separate planes for tours?
She summed it up like this: “We just didn’t fit together anymore.” Phrase that, in colloquial Spanish, means: “He wanted peace of mind and I wanted to continue being the life of the party.” Or perhaps: “He is from Monterrey and I am from the Aguilar dynasty, and in the end, not even love overcomes cultural differences.”
Of course, they left a legacy: a version of “Déjame vivir” that now sounds ironically prophetic. And, of course, the title of the healthiest breakup on the show. Who said love in show business can’t end well? (Well, aside from all the entertainment magazines of the last 50 years.)
Moral? Sometimes, love doesn’t last forever, but respect does. Or at least, that’s what they say until the next gossip comes out.
