Linkin Park’s silent tribute that hurts more than a breakdown
It seems like yesterday when, in a plot twist sadder than the end of ‘Bojack Horseman’, Linkin Park lost its iconic voice, Chester Bennington. Now, the band is preparing for its return to Mexican lands at Corona Capital 2025, and although we all hope to relive our emo adolescence with “In The End”, there is one song that literally ran out of light in the setlist.
Mike Shinoda, the musical mastermind who survived the tragedy, confirmed what we all suspected: “One More Light” is officially the banned song. The reason is as obvious as it is painful: after Chester’s death, the world decided the song was about him. Shinoda, with the wisdom of someone who has seen a crowd cry more than at a funeral, declared that playing it would be like opening a wound live, turning the concert into a massive group therapy session. An understandable move, because who wants to chant “Who cares if one more light goes out?” When that light went out forever?
From sadness to cakes: the plot twist that no one saw coming
But not everything is nostalgia and tears in Northern Rome. In a twist as Mexican as putting avocado on everything, Linkin Park has decided to console its fans with the universal antidote to sadness: street food. Following in the footsteps of their previous delivery of tamales (yes, tamales), the band will open “Tortas Los Linkin”, a gastronomic pop-up with names that hurt more than hearing “Crawling” in the middle of an existential crisis.
The menu is as elaborate as a guitar solo from “Faint.” For desperate carnivores, there’s HEAVY IS THE CROWN, a masterpiece of baked leg and Milanese that probably outweighs the band’s legacy. The EMPTINESS MACHINE is for those who prefer the leg without the Milanese, but with the same existential emptiness. The CUT THE BRIDGE includes sausage, because what’s more nu-metal than a sausage in a cake? And for those who evolved from metal to veganism, the OVERFLOW (VEGAN) with mushrooms, which you can order with or without cheese, because even in the diet you have to make difficult decisions.
The not-so-fun detail is that they will only be giving away the first 50 cakes each day (November 13 and 14), which means the competition will be fiercer than trying to get pre-sale tickets. Prepare to wait in line longer than an 8-year wait to see them again.
So there you have it: Linkin Park returns to Mexico with an edited setlist, a silent tribute to Chester, and a mission to feed its army of fans with carbs and nostalgia. Because in the end, what better way to honor a legacy than with an avocado cake?
Do you already know which of these cakes you would order? Share this note with that friend you went to concerts with and plan your strategy to be one of the lucky 50. And don’t forget to explore more content about the other artists who will vibrate at the Corona Capital.
