Competition for a position is not exclusive to the corporate world. It also happens in the performing arts. This is how the actor Erick Elías expressed it when presenting the play “The Grönholm Method”, which premieres on July 11 at the Xola Theater.
“Sometimes I see this as a casting. When several arrive for the same character, you look at the person next to you and see if it turns out perfect. The meeting that the characters in this story experience, we have every day when fighting for a role,” he commented.
The staging brings together four candidates – played by Ana Serradilla, Erick Elías, Alex de la Madrid and Daniel Haddad – who compete for a high executive position. In the process, they reveal secrets and betray their colleagues. The central question: how far is someone willing to go to achieve a goal?
Personal experiences on stage
Ana Serradilla shared her experience auditioning in the United States. “For me it has been terrible to cast in the US. It is a lot of stress, because acting in a language that is not yours is very hard. I managed to be among the finalists to be a Bond girl, but the pressure was such that I decided that I had no interest in working there,” she recalled.
The actress also reflected on personal sacrifices: “There are people who go over themselves or others. In my case I have gone over myself a lot; I sacrificed family, health and things that I would never do again today.”
Daniel Haddad highlighted that the work addresses how employees become production machines, but it does so through comedy. “When they are given challenges, the viewer realizes what they are capable of in order to get a position. They twist their values and morals, but within everything there is a lot of humor,” he explained.
The cast is completed by Diego Klein and Tato Alexander, who will alternate characters with De la Madrid and Serradilla from the premiere. The play promises a scathing look at the world of work, where ambition and ethics clash in every scene.
