The actor who built his success from scratch
This year’s Actor Awards were more than a red carpet. It was a trip back in time, a tribute to the faces that have defined what we see on screen. And among all of them, there was a moment that resonated with that brutal honesty that is rarely seen at these events.
The great protagonist was Harrison Ford. He went on stage not only to receive an award, but to unleash a truth like a fist. In the midst of the flashes and the music, he remembered the hard years, those before he was a legend.
“I’m still a working actor. I wasn’t an overnight success. I survived 15 years as a carpenter and returning to acting, until I finally landed a role in a wildly successful movie. Thank you, George Lucas; thank you, Steven Spielberg,”
There you have it. Fifteen years handling hammers and saws while dreaming of scripts. That image of future Han Solo or Indiana Jones measuring boards is as powerful as any scene from their movies. It speaks of pure persistence, of craft before fame.
And then, thanks to the two geniuses who changed everything: George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. Without them, perhaps he would still be the best carpenter in Hollywood. But with them, it became part of the collective imagination of several generations.
This 32nd edition of the awards, now renamed the Actor Awards, showed that sometimes the best stories are not on the screen, but in the backstage microphones. Ford reminded us that even icons started from the bottom, literally building their way, plank by plank.
