A walk that ended in a complaint
A 39-year-old man, Alex Jenkinson, was charged with harassment after an incident near Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s home in eastern England. Norfolk Police say the former royal was walking his dogs when he was greeted with threatening, abusive or insulting words and behavior intended to cause him alarm or distress.
“The suspect faces two charges of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior with intent to cause alarm or distress,” Norfolk police reported.
What’s coming now
The case goes straight to Norwich Magistrates Court, where Jenkinson is due to appear this Friday. There are no details on whether there was physical violence, but the prosecution suggests the atmosphere became tense. For someone who’s already had his share of public scandals, this episode is another reminder that security isn’t just for official events.
Meanwhile, the question I ask myself: how easy is it for anyone to approach public figures in residential areas? Because if this happens on a dog walk, imagine it in any park.
