The Ministries of the Interior and Public Education asked the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) to return to the dialogue tables with the federal Government. In a joint statement, both agencies reiterated that the dialogue remains open as a way to address the demands of the teaching profession.
Call for social peace
The right to demonstrate is guaranteed, but the authorities urged that the demonstrations be peaceful, without affecting citizen mobility or public services. They also rejected the participation of people outside the teaching profession who could cause incidents.
The Secretary of Public Education, Mario Delgado, offered to immediately set up a table to review the main demands of the union. He recalled advances such as the adjustments to the ISSSTE pension system and the proposal to eliminate the USICAMM.
“Respectful and constructive dialogue is the route,” said Delgado. Segob and SEP insisted that negotiation must be prioritized over any other action.
