La Doña raises her voice (and it is not a skit)
Just when you thought that Chespirito’s post-mortem drama had reached its peak with the HBO Max series, Florinda Meza arrives with her documentary to say “hello, neighbors, you didn’t count on my cleverness.” Four months after the last episode of “Chespirito: sin lovingly wanting” left us with more questions than answers, the eternal Doña Florinda is about to release her own version of the events. And it promises to be juicier than gossip from Chapulín Colorado.
The feature film directed by Javier Domz (yes, the same one who has been behind this information bomb since the beginning) will not only show us unpublished photos and videos of the most iconic marriage on Mexican television, but will also recreate Gómez Bolaños himself through Artificial Intelligence. Because in 2025, even ghosts are digital. The million dollar question is: will AI be able to capture that mischievous look that stole the hearts of entire generations?
It’s not resentment, it’s clearing up the record
The director insists that this is not a direct response to the series where Florinda was basically turned into a ghost character with her same characteristics (subtle, right?). But come on, it’s as obvious as Chavo del 8’s mustache. While in the HBO Max production they showed us a woman who caused chaos in the production and distanced Chespirito from his family, Florinda comes to tell her truth after being crucified on social networks to the point that they asked to remove her statue in Juchipila, Zacatecas.
In “Dare to Live: Florinda Meza” (a title that sounds more like a reggaeton song than a documentary, but hey, we’re in the age of streaming), the actress reveals the best kept secrets behind the cameras. He will tell us what those days of recording were really like, the mysterious elixir that kept the couple’s passion alive for decades (spoiler: it was not the chilindrina formula), and the devastating loss that Roberto’s departure meant. The juiciest thing: he claims that he co-wrote many chapters of Chespirito and never received credit. Who said the women behind great men didn’t have stories to tell?
Mark your calendars, people
For all those who have been more aware of this premiere than their beloved Paty’s Professor Jirafales, the big day finally has a date: November 25 on Prime Video. Because what better way to celebrate the month that no one knows if it is for buying or demonstrating than with a documentary that promises to uncover all the secret files.
This production began its gestation in 2020, when Domz approached Florinda with the idea. After learning about the rival bioseries, the director decided to make reshoots at the end of last year, because in the streaming war, fresh information is the most powerful weapon. The delay until November allowed us to add important testimonies such as Juan Antonio Edwards, Francisco Gattorno, Oscar Bonfiglio, Alejandra Ávalo and Aylin Mujica. With a duration of just over an hour, it promises to be the most talked about binge-watching of the season.
