Fátima Bosch reveals the cost of facing Nawat in Miss Universe

The Mexican reveals how a tense confrontation almost cost her the crown, but her dignity prevailed.

Analysis of the Conflict and its Consequences

On November 4, 2025, the dissemination of audiovisual material in which Fátima Bosch addressed the press in Thailand marked a public turning point in the dynamics of the Miss Universe pageant. In these recordings, the Mexican representative exhibited a firm and confident attitude when exposing the episodes of verbal aggression perpetrated by the businessman and host of the contest, Nawat Itsaragrisil. The analysis of the subsequent images shows a direct confrontation, where the organizer repeatedly interrupted the contestant to complain about her lack of sharing promotional content on her personal networks, an action that Bosch herself later classified as derived from an internal operational misunderstanding.

The contestant provided detailed testimony, stating that Itsaragrisil used derogatory epithets, including the term “dumb.” Although she reiterated her deep respect for the host nation, the participant made the strategic decision not to allow this treatment and withdrew from the immediate scene, an act that was supported by several of her colleagues. In a retrospective evaluation, the now universal sovereign admits that, at that critical moment, she made a conscious calculation of risk: her defense of personal dignity could have the direct consequence of the elimination of competition. This episode illustrates the complex power relationship between the organizers and the candidates, where dissent can be interpreted as insubordination.

Repercussions and Organizational Resolution

After her coronation as Miss Universe 2025, during the official celebration at the Grand Richmond Convention Hotel in Bangkok, Bosch gave an interview to the Spanish communicator Jordi Martín where he delved into the implications of the incident. When asked about her expectations of reaching the final, the model from Tabasco responded with a strategic smile: “We all entered with great enthusiasm, but you never know what is going to happen. What I did was give it my all, and in the end the results were good.” This statement contains a tacit recognition of the uncertainty generated by the conflict.

The contestant was explicit in admitting her full awareness of possible retaliation: “In a way, it was very likely that she would not qualify.” However, a crucial element in the resolution of the case was the explicit institutional support of the Miss Universe Organization. Bosch highlighted that the governing body of the contest stayed out of the altercation and, on the contrary, provided constant support to her and her companions. “I think the proof of that is that I am here,” he said, noting that the outcome of his coronation validates the position he took. Her mother, Vanessa Fernández, corroborated this perspective, pointing out that the episode, far from weakening her, strengthened the determination of her daughter, who declared after the confrontation: “I thought: I have already lost the crown, but I am not going to lose my dignity.” This phrase summarizes the ethical dilemma he faced.

The culmination of this tension was observed during the coronation party, where Bosch and Itsaragrisil maintained a protocol and calm interaction. Wearing the crown and dressed in a bright green dress, the winner greeted him as she entered the room. Later, in a gesture of professionalism, she asked him to accompany her to the stage; He took her hand and they ascended the stage together, where they posed for the photographic media and exchanged a few words. However, the perception of an underlying disagreement on the part of the businessman persisted, evidenced in a cryptic post on his social networks during the pageant final: “Ten billion words that cannot be said,” he wrote, suggesting an unresolved discrepancy with the jury’s verdict and closing a chapter of friction whose shock waves redefined the limits of respect in beauty pageants.

World Cup spectacle boosts artists’ streaming

The World Cup halftime show skyrocketed the views of Madonna, Bieber and BTS.

The halftime performance of the World Cup final, with Madonna, Justin Bieber, BTS and Shakira, not only captivated the global audience. It also generated an immediate rebound in the reproductions of his songs on digital platforms.

Luminate, a firm specializing in music industry data, analyzed listening behavior two days before the event and compared it to the day of the final and the day after. The results show significant increases in each interpreted theme.

  • Justin BieberEverything Hallelujah rose 110% globally: from 592 thousand views to 1.25 million.
  • MadonnaMusic grew 66%, going from 193 thousand to 321 thousand.
  • BTSDynamite increased 43%, from 2.14 million to 3.05 million.
  • Shakira and Burna BoyDai Dai, official anthem of the 2026 World Cup, rose 24% globally (from 14.78 to 18.27 million) and 52% in the US (from 1.68 to 2.55 million).

Luminate’s study also revealed that the increase was limited to songs performed in the field, not artists’ entire catalogs. A phenomenon similar to that which occurs with the Super Bowl halftime show.

Shark Week 2025: K-Pop and diving stars dive with sharks

Rei Ami and Molly Carlson face their fears at sea for Shark Week.

The singer Rei Ami, known for her participation in the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack, lived a unique experience off the coast of Korea. He dived with 16 reef sharks during a feeding frenzy.

Far from being terrified, he cried in amazement. “I thought I would be more scared, but I was fascinated. It was witnessing nature,” she said. “You can’t describe the emotions you feel.”

Two ways to face fear

Rei Ami did two cage dives and two freediving dives with hammerhead, reef and bull sharks. His partner on the K-Pop Shark Heroes show, comedian Ken Jeong, preferred to stay grounded. “I’m like Christopher Nolan in Shark Odyssey: I just supervise,” he joked.

The new season of Shark Week starts on Sunday on Discovery Channel, with 20 one-hour episodes. Among them, the participation of diver Molly Carlson stands out, who jumped 15 meters from a helicopter into a plexiglass cage surrounded by reef sharks.

Carlson, who suffers from anxiety, accepted the challenge to inspire others. “If I can help that 16-year-old girl who just wants to hide, I’ll find a way,” he said. “It’s okay to be afraid and do it anyway. That was the purpose of this project.”

The program concludes on August 1 with an analysis of the movement of white sharks northward and the technique used by thresher sharks to stun their prey.
