Bunbury’s musical legacy: creativity without limits
After almost three years of hiatus due to health problems related to technical effects on stage, Enrique Bunbury has redefined his relationship with music. The 57-year-old Spanish artist confirms that, if he decides to retire, it will only be at 90. “I have future projects,” he ironized during a meeting with the media.
A career on your own terms
The “Lady Blue” singer has taken a selective approach to his career. He criticizes the dogmas of the industry: “I rebel against the idea that a musician must always be on tour to survive. I deliberately reduce my live performances.”
He also questions the current trend towards singles: “I insist on releasing concept albums because they encapsulate creative moments. Age does not determine artistic relevance.” This philosophy is materialized in her recent album “Greta Garbo” (2023) and the next “Cuentas Pending”, which premieres on April 25.
Reconnection with musical roots
His new work marks a turn towards Hispanic-American folklore: “I explore the greatness of our musical tradition, without losing sight of contemporaneity.” The preview singles –“Para Volver Hasta Así”, “Las Chingadas Ganas de Llorar” and “Te Porque a Todo Acostumbrar”– offer a sample of this sonic evolution.
The Huracán Ambulante Tour, which includes dates in Mexico (June 7 in Querétaro, 10 at the Citibanamex Auditorium and 25 at the GNP Stadium), fuses celebration and renewal: it commemorates two decades of its eponymous band while presenting its most recent material.
