Culiacán burns again: shooting in Villas del Cedro and hunting in La Cantera
It seems that in Sinaloa weekends do not exist for those who carry long weapons. Last night, the Villas del Cedro subdivision became the scene of a shootout between the State Special Operations Group and an armed group. Balance: three civilians and two police officers injured. Everyone to the hospital, as if it were routine.
What happened? An anonymous call alerted about suspicious guys with weapons on a street in the subdivision. Officers arrived, and instead of finding suspects, they found lead. The civilians, detained after the shooting, were also injured and were helped. The authorities seized three automatic weapons, chargers, tactical vests and a truck. The crime scene, perfectly staged for the official report.
Meanwhile, in La Cantera… The army mounted a search operation after pursuing a vehicle with armed civilians. The guys fled to a residential subdivision, where they took refuge in a house. The property is fenced, but so far it is not known if they managed to arrest anyone. The military continues to watch, as if waiting for the bad guys to come out and sunbathe.
The curious thing is that in both cases, the authorities are silent about the key details: who were the attackers? What group do they belong to? Why is there always an anonymous caller that “alerts” just before everything explodes? The historical memory of Culiacán says that these “operations” usually end in more questions than answers. And meanwhile, the hospitals receive the injured, and the neighbors wonder if tomorrow it will be their house that is cordoned off.
