The SEP denies another long weekend in March: the holiday has already passed
Just when parents were beginning to plan another long weekend, the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) comes forward. It was circulating on networks that Friday, March 20 would be a non-working day, but it is not true.
“On Friday, March 20, there are classes normally at all levels of basic education,” says the official calendar.
The confusion arises from the birth of Benito Juárez. It is a holiday, yes, but this year it has already moved to Monday the 16th. That was the last ‘bridge’ before Easter. Someone forgot to update their agenda and made a mess.
So when do they stop again?
The next stop on the school journey is soon. It will be on Friday, March 27, but only for students. That day is the School Technical Council Meeting, so the teachers do go to work.
Then comes the big parenthesis. The Easter holidays start on Monday, March 30 and go until Friday, April 10. Students return to classrooms on Monday the 13th.
More than two weeks off that, surely, many parents already have numbered. The schedule is clear: there are no more surprises… for now.
