Dolly Parton pauses her return to the stage
The 80-year-old queen of country has just canceled her Las Vegas residency that had already been postponed. The reason? Health problems that have her “head spinning.” But don’t worry, she herself assures that everything is treatable.
“The good news is that I am responding very well to the medications and treatments and I am getting better every day,” he said in an Instagram video.
Of course, the bad news is that it takes time. And, as she herself explains with her characteristic humor, it is not easy to carry banjos and guitars in five-inch heels when the medications make you dizzy. “Not to mention all those rhinestone-heavy outfits, the big hair, my big, uh, personality. Oh my God, that would make anyone’s head spin!”
Without details, but with humor
He didn’t give many specific details about his health, but mentioned that he has always had problems with kidney stones and that his immune and digestive systems “got completely out of whack” in recent years. Her doctors assured her it’s all treatable, so she’s sticking with it.
In the meantime, he continues to work on his museum and hotel in Nashville, and on his Broadway musical “Dolly: A True Original Musical,” which opens this year.
A history of problems
This is not new. In September he had already postponed this same residency due to health problems. At the time, he couldn’t attend the announcement of a new attraction at Dollywood because a kidney stone caused an infection.
And to close with a flourish, the following month he published a video joking that “he hasn’t died yet” after the rumors. “I don’t think God is done with me. And I’m not done working.”
Dolly hasn’t toured since 2016, when she wrapped up her “Pure & Simple Tour.” But if there’s one thing we know, it’s that this legend doesn’t give up easily. In the meantime, we wish you a speedy recovery and less dizziness.
