They report sexual abuse by teachers in schools in Jalisco

Two schools in Jalisco face the dark secret of teachers accused of assaults who remained hidden.

The scandal that shakes the classrooms of Jalisco

In the shadows of two educational institutions in Guadalajara and Tonalá, a terrifying secret came to light: the State Human Rights Commission of Jalisco (CEDHJ) uncovered cases of sexual abuse that shocked the community. With recommendations 08/25 and 09/25 in hand, the agency revealed a pattern of violence that left victims scarred and families in search of justice.

The teacher who crossed the line

At the Technical Secondary School 86, located in the San Eugenio neighborhood, two students and their mothers raised their voices against a Civic and Ethics Training teacher. His crime? Lascivious looks and inappropriate touching that turned the classroom into a space of terror. “He didn’t like the way he looked at her… as if his hand ‘slid’ towards her breasts,” said a mother, her voice breaking with indignation. The silence was broken, but the pain persisted.

Meanwhile, at the Carlos Orozco Romero’ Secondary School in Tonalá, another Technology teacher was weaving his web of abuse. Touching, threats and a fear that silenced a student… until now. “If you said something, it would be worse for you,” the aggressor warned her, according to the mother’s testimony. But the most chilling thing: at least 20 other students pointed out the same teacher, revealing a systematic pattern of aggression.

The justice that took a long time to come

The events occurred in 2022, but the CEDHJ only issued its recommendations this Wednesday. Among the demands: psychological care for the victims, administrative investigation against the teachers involved and reparation for the damage. The Secretary of Education of Jalisco (SEJ) now faces the challenge of acting before more voices are forgotten.

The call is clear: share this story so that no case of violence is hidden behind the doors of a school again. Do you know more similar cases? Explore our related content and join the conversation on social media.

Two people rescued on jet skis off the coast of Veracruz

The Navy helps two crew members stranded on Salmedina Island due to mechanical failure.

Elements of the Secretary of the Navy rescued two people who were left adrift on a jet ski with mechanical failures. The incident occurred off the coast of Veracruz, in the vicinity of Isla Salmedina.

The operation

The Naval Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance Station (ENSAR) Veracruz received an emergency call. They reported a jet ski with a breakdown that prevented its safe movement. There were two crew members on board.

Given the warning, a Defender-type rescue vessel was ordered to set sail. Personnel specialized in maritime search and rescue operations went to the scene. When they arrived, they found the crew. Due to the low draft in the area, rescue swimmers recovered them.

Once the maneuver was completed, the jet ski was towed to the facilities of the Heroic Naval Military School. There, the two crew members were evaluated by Naval Health personnel from the Antón Lizardo Naval Hospital. Both were in good health. The operation concluded successfully.

March of teachers causes traffic chaos near the Azteca stadium

Teacher protest and strong police operation before the Colombia-Uzbekistan match.

Hundreds of teachers led a peaceful march to the Azteca stadium before the Colombia-Uzbekistan match for the 2026 World Cup. The police blocked access with concrete barriers, cranes and trucks to prevent their progress.

The mobilization did not reach the stadium, but it generated heavy congestion in the surrounding area. Those attending the game had to take a detour and walk several kilometers.

Security operation and official response

Some 11,219 troops were deployed in the capital, with reinforcements from horse police in Azteca. The Secretary of Security, Pablo Vázquez, reported that almost 8,000 would guard the stadium and the rest the historic center, where a festival of supporters was set up.

The deployment occurs six days after the protests during the opening of the World Cup, when teachers, searchers for the missing and activists demonstrated. On that occasion, the forces blocked their advance without major setbacks.

The National Coordinator of Education Workers called for new mobilizations to increase pressure. The federal government called the unions to a dialogue table.

President Claudia Sheinbaum announced teleworking in the public sector and suspension of classes in Mexico City and Guadalajara to avoid congestion during matches.

Groups of relatives of missing people have also protested to demand attention to the crisis that has accumulated 135,000 cases.
