With the aim of recognizing Veracruz women who have stood out for their life, work and contributions in the academic, scientific, artistic, literary or social fields, as well as for their work in promoting women’s rights and gender equality, the Special Commission of the State Women’s Award 2026 announced the call to choose the next winner.
After signing the act that formalizes the installation of this legislative body, deputies Astrid Sánchez Moguel, president; Citlali Medellín Careaga, secretary; and Luz Alicia Delfín Rodríguez, Ana Rosa Valdés Salazar, Elizabeth Morales García, María Elena Córdova Molina and Daniela Flores Barnils, as members, agreed that in Veracruz there are valuable women whose constant work in various areas makes them a fundamental pillar for society.
The call is aimed at civil and academic associations, human rights defense organizations and citizens in general, with the aim of proposing Veracruz women who they consider worthy of this distinction granted annually by the State Congress.
According to the rules, proposals may be presented from Wednesday, January 28 to Wednesday, February 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., in the office of Deputy Astrid Sánchez Moguel, located in the Legislative Palace, between Encanto and Lázaro Cárdenas avenues, El Mirador neighborhood, in this city.
Applications must be accompanied by a statement of reasons and a narrative of the main actions carried out by the proposed person in favor of gender equality, as well as in the promotion, promotion or defense of women’s rights. Once the reception period has concluded, the Special Commission will evaluate the proposals and select the candidate who, in its opinion, has the greatest merits to receive the award. Subsequently, an opinion will be issued that will be submitted to the consideration of the Plenary Session of the LXVII Legislature, the body in charge of approving the final proposal.
The Medal for the State Award for Women 2026 will be awarded in a Solemn Session of the State Congress, on a date determined within the framework of the commemoration of International Women’s Day.
