Location sharing functionality in Google Maps
Google Maps, one of the most used navigation tools globally, allows users to share their location in real time with trusted contacts. This feature is especially useful for travelers who want to keep their loved ones informed of their whereabouts during lonely trips or in risky situations.
Requirements and initial configuration
To activate this feature, it is necessary to have a linked Gmail account and to have previously registered the contacts with whom the information will be shared. Accessible data includes:
- Name and profile photo
- Recent device location (even without active Google use)
- Device battery level
- Estimated arrival and departure times
Steps to share your location
- Open the app and select your profile photo in the top right corner.
- Choose the “Share location” option and confirm.
- Allow access to your contacts if the application requests it.
- Define the visibility period and select the contacts.
- Finish the process with the “Send” button.

Compass Calibration
