Section 22 of the CNTE holds the federal government and that of Oaxaca responsible for alleged inaction regarding reports of attacks against teachers during recent mobilizations in the entity.
Yenny López, union leader, demanded that the authorities demonstrate their willingness to dialogue with actions. He clarified that teachers are not a violent group. Before a meeting at the Ministry of the Interior, he maintained that the meeting should offer concrete solutions, not open another table without results.
Attack in Villa de Mitla
The leader emphatically denounced what happened in Villa de Mitla. According to the CNTE, members of the teaching profession were victims of an armed attack while they were protesting.
It was not a confrontation, but a direct attack against the teachers.
The general secretary of Section 22 reported that the state assembly agreed to demand the dismissal and disqualification of the municipal president of Villa de Mitla, whom they point out as responsible. He warned that the teaching profession demands a criminal investigation and punishment for the aggressors.
