A drama in green and red: Chivas on the brink of the abyss
The fate of Chivas hangs by a thread thinner than a spider’s web in the Leagues Cup. In a match that had more twists than a soap opera, the Sacred Flock fought an epic battle against Charlotte FC, but the 2-2 draw in regular time and the victory on penalties (4-2) were not enough to remove the specters of a third consecutive elimination in the initial phase of the tournament. Hell is just one step away!
The tragedy begins with an own goal
From the 11th minute, the sky became cloudy for Gabriel Milito‘s team. An own goal by Gilberto Sepúlveda, as if fate itself was mocking them, opened the scoring against them. But the warriors in red and white did not give in. Richard Ledezma, with the fury of a titan, equalized in the 24th minute, giving breath back to a fan that was vibrating between hope and despair.
The second part was a whirlwind of emotions. Bryan González, with a shot worthy of the stadium gods, completed the comeback. But alas, football is cruel. In the 90th minute, when the victory seemed to be sealed, Kerwin Vargas appeared like a ghost to tie, with the involuntary complicity of Raúl Rangel and Armando González, who failed to protect the first post. The drama reached its climax!
Milito’s words: Faith or resignation?
The Argentine strategist, Gabriel Milito, with the serenity of a general who knows that the war is not lost, declared: “I have the peace of mind of the game, the team competes as I like. It has courage, it proposes to attack… but that’s how football is.”. His words, although full of conviction, do not hide the harsh reality: defensive errors, clumsy exits and goals against have been a knife stuck in the heart of his project.
“I am satisfied with the performance, but the points are not coming,” he admitted with a hint of bitterness. And, although the Flock dominates the game, the scoreboard resists. With only 2 units on the table, the options of qualifying among the four best Mexican teams vanish like smoke in the wind.
The ghost of errors
The shadow of failures pursues him. From ball losses in dangerous areas to Rangel‘s indecisions, every mistake is paid for in blood. Milito insists on his philosophy: “We will continue playing like this, the boys understand it”. But time is running out, and so is the patience of the fans.
Can the Flock rise from its ashes? Or will this be another night in the ordeal of premature playoffs? The next chapter promises fire, tears and, perhaps, a miracle.
