Expansion of Educational Support for the 2026 Cycle
In the first quarter of 2026, one of the most demanded social assistance programs will extend its reach. This is the Rita Cetina Scholarship, an initiative that, maintaining its fundamental objective of helping households with one or more students, now incorporates primary education students among its potential beneficiaries.
This educational subsidy scheme operates with a model of progressive amounts. The base amount to be transferred is $1,900 Mexican pesos, distributed on a bi-monthly basis. This amount increases by $700 pesos for each additional son or daughter who is enrolled and studies in basic-level public institutions, thus optimizing the impact of support according to family composition.
Calendar and Focused Registration Groups
For an orderly implementation, the online registration process for elementary students will be segmented into two clearly defined phases, determined by the student’s grade level. This methodology seeks to guarantee operational efficiency and a fluid user experience.
The first stage, scheduled for the month of January 2026, is aimed exclusively at students in the 4th, 5th and 6th grades of primary school. This strategic prioritization aims to promote academic continuity and reduce dropout rates in the last years of this educational cycle.
Subsequently, the second phase of the call will open in the month of September of the same year, aimed at students in grades 1st, 2nd and 3rd. This staggered schedule allows for effective distribution of administrative resources and more focused attention.
Requirements and Digital Procedure for the Application
Given that the procedure is completely digital, it is imperative that the father, mother or legal guardian prepare the necessary documentation in digital format in advance. Essential documents include a current official identification (INE/IFE), the student’s Unique Population Registry Code (CURP) and a recent proof of address.
A critical point of attention is consistency in data. The person who makes the request on the official platform must be the same person who later comes to collect the Banco del Bienestar bank card if selected, since the identity verification will cross-check the information provided in the system.
The access mechanism to the registration system is based on the MX Key account, the digital key of the Government of Mexico. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that the tutor verify or pre-register in this authentication system before starting the scholarship application.
The step-by-step procedure is as follows: 1) Enter the official platform using the MX Key credentials. 2) Accurately capture the student’s data: full name, CURP, school grade, and public school of affiliation. 3) Validate or upload the personal and documentary information of the responsible tutor. 4) Send the complete application and download the digital receipt of application. 5) Finally, wait for official notification of results to proceed with receiving the financial support card, if you are a beneficiary.
This expansion of the Rita Cetina Scholarship represents a significant advance in the policies of educational equity and support for the family economy. By including the first years of schooling, the program seeks to lay more solid foundations for the academic career of students, mitigating economic factors that may affect their performance and permanence in the public education system.
