At least several injured in armed incident during festival in Toledo
Toledo police are investigating a violent event that occurred on Saturday afternoon in the vicinity of the Old West End Festival. According to authorities, multiple people were injured by firearms near the event.
Officers responded to a report around 5:30 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, they found several victims with gunshot wounds, according to an official statement from the police department.
So far, the exact number of injured people or the severity of their injuries has not been specified. The victims were taken to nearby medical centers to receive care.
They are looking for those responsible
Authorities have not identified the alleged attackers nor have they detailed what may have triggered the attack. The investigation is ongoing.
“Everyone dropped to the ground,” said Kevin Berry, who was at the neighborhood arboretum listening to live music when he heard several explosions. “When I looked up again, I saw someone throwing a gun on the ground less than 15 meters from me.”
Agents who were already present to protect the festival acted immediately after the incident.
Police ask anyone with information to contact official lines. No deaths have been reported as of the closing of this edition.
