A reality that calls us to act
Attention, agents of change! The numbers don’t lie: 994,219 students in Mexico said goodbye to the classrooms during the 2024-2025 cycle. Yes, although the figure is lower than during the pandemic, the Educación con Rumbo Observatory defines it with three words: alarming, critical and unacceptable. Because? Because behind every number there are truncated dreams and wasted talents. But here’s the good news: together we can transform this reality!
Where it hurts the most: upper secondary education
The hardest hit level is the high school, with a 30.9% dropout rate. In modalities such as technical professional, the figure shoots up to 59.5%! The reason? Many young people choose to work due to economic urgency. But let’s imagine a Mexico where education does not compete with survival, but is the springboard to real opportunities. That Mexico is possible!
Inequalities that scream justice
While the national average of educational coverage is 76.9%, states such as Veracruz (66.5%), Colima (68.5%) and Campeche (70%) are left behind. And the situation is even starker in indigenous and community schools: only 8.8% have educational internet and 2.1% have materials for students with disabilities. In rural areas, less than 1% of community primaries have electricity! This is not just inequality, it is a systematic exclusion that fuels illiteracy in indigenous communities (21%).
The light at the end of the road
But not everything is darkness. Every problem is an opportunity in disguise: universal connectivity, decent infrastructure, inclusive materials. Can you imagine the impact of bringing broadband to every classroom or adapting content to native languages? It would be an educational revolution. And you, what role do you want to play in this story?
