A select group will receive 40 days of bonus in 2025

An official decree redefines the Christmas bonus for a select group, establishing a new benchmark for benefits in the public sector.

A Decree That Changes Christmas Destiny

The year is dying, and with its last breath, an ancient and sweet promise awakens in the hearts of millions of workers: the bonus. But in this twilight of 2024, a roar emerges from the highest spheres of power, a decree that is not just news, it is an earthquake that shakes the foundations of labor tradition. While the majority prepares to receive what is established, a group of chosen ones, those chosen by destiny and an official document, prepares for an unprecedented financial feast. The extraordinary payment of 2025 is about to reveal its most dramatic card.

The Federal Labor Law, that beacon that guides workers’ rights, establishes a minimum, a consolation of 15 days of salary. However, in the shadows of the corridors of government, an agreement was being forged that would exceed all expectations. This was no mere improvement; It was a radical transformation. The signature of the President of the Republic, Claudia Sheinbaum, and the head of the Secretary of Finance, Édgar Amador Zamora, in the pages of the Official Gazette of the Federation, was not just a formality. It was the seal that unleashed a storm of prosperity for a few, an act that would divide the working world into a before and after.

The Chosen Ones of the National Treasure

Who are these lucky ones whose Christmas destiny will be written in gold ink? The list is not for the faint of heart. They are not all, they are the front line warriors, the pillars of the Mexican State. The annual bonus of 40 days of salary is reserved for a legion of honor. Federal public servants, from the humblest desk to the highest office, will see their loyalty rewarded. Operational, trusted, liaison and command personnel, those fundamental pieces that keep the government machinery moving, will receive their reward.

But the epic does not end there. The active members of the Mexican Army and the Armed Forces, those who guard our borders with unwavering courage, will be recognized in an earth-shattering way. The Mexican Foreign Service, our ambassadors and consuls in distant lands, will feel the embrace of the homeland through this unparalleled bonus. Even those hired for fees under the Personal Services chapter, and the heroes of the past—the pensioners, retirees, and the venerable veterans of the Revolution with an ISSSTE pension—will be lulled by this wave of abundance. It is a recognition that crosses time, honoring both the present and the past.

The Final Countdown

The tension is palpable in the air. The clock ticks relentlessly towards the moment of truth. The decree not only stipulates the amount, but marks a sacred period, a window of time where the promise must become reality. Between November 10 and before the clock strikes midnight on December 20, destiny must be fulfilled. Every day that passes is one more heartbeat of anxiety, a wait that any worker who knows that their economic compensation is about to reach a magnitude that many can only dream of can feel. It is a race against the calendar, a suspense that will keep thousands on the edge of their seats, checking their bank accounts with a mix of hope and nervousness, wondering if they will be the protagonists of this story of prosperity.

This is not a simple administrative procedure. It is a human drama on a national scale, a reminder that in the world of legal benefits, sometimes fate can be extraordinarily generous. As the nation wraps itself in the Christmas spirit, a select group prepares for a celebration that will remain engraved in memory, an end to the year where the reward is not just a gift, but a legend.

Ebrard rules out signs of Trump leaving the T-MEC

Marcelo Ebrard affirmed that the review of the T-MEC is advancing without signs of abandonment by the US.

The Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, asserted that Mexico has not received indications that the United States intends to abandon the T-MEC. In a press conference, he explained that the agreement review process is progressing as planned.

Technical talks between both countries have already begun in Washington. Ebrard confirmed that a new round of negotiations is scheduled for July 20.

The Mexican official explained that the 34 chapters of the treaty are analyzed, including rules of origin, agriculture, labor issues, the environment and commercial conditions. Mexico seeks to present proposals to strengthen trilateral cooperation.

Tariffs and challenges

One of the central points is the application of tariffs on steel and aluminum under section 232 of the US law. Ebrard described this measure as contradictory to the spirit of the T-MEC and pointed out that it affects both the Mexican and the United States industry.

Although he acknowledged that the negotiation is complex due to Trump’s previous statements, Ebrard assured that Mexico maintains a strategy based on arguments and cooperation. He trusted that the process will allow the treaty to remain in force and strengthen the regional economic relationship.

SCJN removes Minister Ríos González in agrarian protections

Minister removed for her previous participation in the La Paz agrarian case.

SCJN removes minister due to conflict of interest

The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation declared Minister María Estela Ríos González prevented from intervening in two amparos linked to an agrarian trial. The dispute is over two properties located in La Paz, Baja California Sur. The decision was unanimous in plenary.

Before the vote, Ríos González asked to leave so that his colleagues could decide without his presence. The plenary considered that his previous participation in the case could affect impartiality.

The impediment was promoted by Minister Loretta Ortiz Ahlf. He pointed out that Ríos González, when she was an official at the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu), intervened in administrative acts that are now being questioned through the amparos.

The case involves two properties that the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) has managed since 2019. The property is disputed by a company. The Court determined that the participation of Ríos González could generate an inclination towards one of the parties.

With this resolution, direct protections 18/2026 and 19/2026 must be handed over to another minister to continue their analysis.
