The Secretariat of National Defense (Defense) deployed 600 Army elements in Durango. The measure seeks to reinforce security and operations against organized crime in the entity.
Military reinforcement in Durango
The contingent is made up of 300 troops from the “Mexico Joint Task Force” and 300 from the Fourth Armored Reconnaissance Regiment. They join the 90 members of Special Forces who arrived on June 10, within the National Public Security Strategy.
The agency, headed by Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, reported that the military will join the operations of the Tenth Military Zone. They will work in coordination with federal, state and municipal authorities.
The 300 elements of the Fourth Armored Reconnaissance Regiment will strengthen security on communication routes. Currently, the National Guard maintains this scheme through the “Durango State Coordination.”
The troops will carry out patrols, ground reconnaissance and establish security posts. They will also carry out dissuasive actions in priority areas. Everything, in accordance with the National Law on the Use of Force and with respect for human rights.
