A smile that says it all
Yolanda Andrade is back. After months off camera, the host reappeared in the recordings of “Montse & Joe” with an energy that completely refutes the darkest forecasts. And he recently revealed his diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
The disease is as tough as its name: degenerative, progressive and without a cure. It attacks the neurons that control muscles. But there was Yolanda, chatty and smiling, celebrating her 54th birthday in the only way that matters.
“I didn’t make any wishes,” he confessed. “I was just grateful to be alive and the blessings I have.”
A thank you that he publicly extended to his sister Marilé, closing ranks against the rumors. Fortitude, it seems, is also a family act.
The power of friendship (and humor)
She was not alone on her return. At his side, as in the old days, was Montserrat Oliver. Your friend. His ex-partner. The perfect person to cheer you up in front of a camera.
Yolanda even had the luxury of joking. She mentioned that she did not know that Verónica Castro – another ex-partner according to her – was in poor health. Humor as a shield, but also as a testimony of life.
His followers exploded with joy on social networks. Not only to see her back, but because they noticed something crucial: she has almost completely recovered the tone of her voice. A small daily miracle in the midst of the medical treatment and massive prayers he receives.
The discomfort began almost three years ago. Now, after spending the holidays with her family and reuniting with her former “Netas Divinas” colleagues, Yolanda has a clear outlook.
“In the midst of difficult days,” he said, “there are also good days.”
A simple phrase. A powerful mantra. The lesson is not in the illness, but in how you choose to face it: with gratitude, surrounded by love and without letting go of that smile.
