Ah, the glamor of the star life. While we mere mortals are content to argue over poorly prepared coffee, actor William Levy decided to take things to the next level in Miami. The result? A night that included police, disorderly conduct and home invasion. Because nothing says “fancy party” like ending up in handcuffs, right?
In his appearance in El Hormiguero, the Cuban heartthrob gave us his version of the events, which sounds more like a discarded Miami Vice script than reality. According to Levy, it all started as an innocent evening among friends. “We were having a drink,” he said, as if that explained why he ended up on the news. Of course, because in Miami, “having a drink” is code for “arguing with strangers and calling the police.”
The account that cost more than expected
The trigger, according to the actor, was something as mundane as checking the bar bill. His friend, apparently a drunken math expert, noticed that “something was wrong.” What was that something? Levy didn’t clarify, but we can imagine: perhaps they overcharged for the ice or lemon in the drink. Enough reasons to make a scandal, obviously.
“I got involved to prevent the situation from escalating,” said the actor, with the same credibility as a politician promising to lower taxes. Because, let’s be honest, how many times has “getting” into a fight ended well? Spoiler: never. The predictable happened: the police arrived, and what could have been a simple night of drinking turned into an episode of Cops: Celebrity Edition.
The funniest thing is that Levy insisted that “it was nothing serious.” Of course, because in their world, an arrest for trespassing is the equivalent of a “little misunderstanding.” Meanwhile, the rest of humanity continues to think that being detained by the police does qualify as “serious”, but what do we know?
