Max Verstappen and his love for helmets that scream “favorite sponsor”
Oh, surprise. Max Verstappen, the man who makes the podiums his second home, has decided to pay tribute to Red Bull with a special helmet at the Austrian Grand Prix. Original? Not so much. Cash? Like a yawn at a board meeting. But hey, at least the colors match the landscape.
The Dutchman, who holds the record of 4 victories in Spielberg (2018, 2019, 2021 and 2023), will wear a blue design with orange strokes and, of course, the lion that seems to say: “Yes, I am the king, but today I dress up as a traveling advertisement.” Because nothing screams “tribute” like complying with the merchandising clause.
Red Bull needs more than a pretty helmet
While the Austrian team dreams of celebrating at home, the reality is that its RB21 must stop imitating a tricycle compared to the McLarens. Verstappen, currently third in the championship (43 points behind leader Oscar Piastri), needs more than just a flashy helmet to come back. Maybe an engine that doesn’t sound like a blender?
And if that were not enough, this edition of the Austrian GP is the penultimate before the circuit becomes a caravan park in 2026. Because nothing says “legacy” like a contract that expires with no renewal in sight. Did someone say “priorities”?
Will the special helmet be of any use? Probably not, but at least the photos for Instagram look brutal. Meanwhile, fans will continue to wonder if Red Bull should invest more in aerodynamics and less in paint.
