When the CJNG runs into the law (and loses)
It seems that Jerhemy “N” and Gael “N”, two alleged members of “Los Señores de Morelia” (yes, that is their real name, because modesty is conspicuous by its absence in the world of organized crime), decided that playing narcos in Michoacán was a good idea. Spoiler: it wasn’t.
It turns out that these two entrepreneurs from the illegal market (because, let’s be honest, drug trafficking is the worst startup you can choose) were tied to trial by a judge who was clearly not in the mood for their antics. And not only that: they were placed in preventive detention for crimes such as carrying a firearm and possession of cartridges for the exclusive use of the Army. Come on, they weren’t exactly figurine collectors.
The operation: when reality surpasses Narcos: Mexico
It all started when the authorities (SSPC, Army, Navy, FGR and State Police, because in this country even operations are teamwork) arrived at a property in Morelia to investigate a complaint. But, surprise, the boys decided to shoot them. Strategic error, because in the end they ended up handcuffed and with their arsenal confiscated: a handgun, a magazine, seven cartridges, methamphetamine and even jugs with chemical precursors. Come on, they had everything but an escape plan.
At the indictment hearing, the MPF presented the evidence and the judge, without wasting time, told them: “Preventive detention, gentlemen, and four more months of investigation.” Because, of course, when they catch you with suspicious drugs, weapons and chemicals, there’s not much to debate.
The FGR reported the case this Saturday, confirming that, once again, the CJNG does not fare well when facing federal forces. Although, realistically, this is just one more chapter in the eternal soap opera of organized crime in Mexico.
Are you surprised? Probably not. But if you want to stay up to date with more stories ofnarcos vs. authorities, share this note and continue exploring our content. Because, let’s face it, this country never stops providing material.
