The viral phenomenon of ‘Tricolor Salvaje’
The official list of the 26 footballers who will represent Mexico in the 2026 World Cup not only generated analysis and memes. A group of fans used artificial intelligence to create a video inspired by Mexican soap operas, named ‘Tricolor Salvaje’. The production has already accumulated millions of views on X and Facebook.
The recording transforms those selected into characters in a story with drama, romance and rivalries. Use the song ‘Corazón Salvaje’, by Mijares, as the background. Among the most commented moments, Guillermo Ochoa appears riding as the protagonist, accompanied by Raúl Rangel and Carlos Acevedo. Defenders, such as Johan Vásquez, César Montes and Israel Reyes, are depicted as villains, while midfielders such as Edson Álvarez and Luis Chávez wear revolutionary outfits. Gilberto Mora and Obed Vargas, the youngest, appear characterized as children.
Javier Aguirre’s call includes 13 players from Europe, 12 from Liga MX and one from Saudi Arabia. Figures like Ochoa, Raúl Jiménez and Jesús Gallardo provide experience. The viral video has been celebrated, although it also provoked criticism of the structure of Mexican soccer and its leaders.
