A hard blow for motor sport
On Saturday Juha Miettinen left us. The Finnish driver died during qualifying for the Langstrecken Series at the legendary Nürburgring. News that takes your breath away and reminds you how fragile everything can be.
The incident was serious. A multiple crash involving seven vehicles forced the race to stop immediately. Afterwards, suspension was the only possible decision. The atmosphere in the paddock must have been one of absolute shock.
The motorsports community is in mourning. An outstanding, respected pilot left.
Since the news broke, the reactions have not stopped. Teammates, teams, fans… all sharing the same pain. It is one of those moments in which sport shows its most human, most vulnerable side.
And this makes us reflect. Tragedies like this put on the table, once again, the eternal and necessary conversation about security. Every curve, every barrier, every protocol matters. The quest to reduce risks never ends, because behind every helmet there is a life.
Today there is no tactical analysis that is valid. Just respect for a colleague who loved the same thing as us: the track. Rest in peace, Juha.
