Tourist is assaulted and injured in the Historic Center of CDMX

A violent incident in the heart of the capital activates a security operation and highlights the importance of prevention for tourists.

An Incident that Reinforces the Importance of Prevention

Today, dear community of travelers and conscious citizens, we want to address an event that, while challenging, provides us with a powerful opportunity to reinforce our attention and our capacity for collective resilience. An event that occurred in the vibrant Historic Center of Mexico City reminds us that, even in the midst of beauty and culture, we must remain present and attentive. A foreign tourist experienced a moment of adversity after getting out of a taxi, a reminder that our safety is a priority that we must actively cultivate.

The traveler, who had made previous financial movements at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport, was heading to the hotel where she was staying, located on the emblematic República de Cuba street. Transportation was a service provided by the accommodation itself, which invites us to reflect on the protection protocols that we all deserve. However, the situation took an unexpected turn when a couple on a motorcycle intercepted the vehicle inside a parking lot.

The Quick Response and the Spirit of Improvement

In an act of violence, the motorcycle passenger threatened the woman to take the cash from her and, in the struggle, a shot was fired that hit her abdomen. Given this, it is essential to highlight the immediate intervention of emergency services. The quick and coordinated reaction of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) ensured that the injured woman received primary medical attention on site and then was quickly transferred to a hospital center, where she is currently receiving all the care necessary for her prompt and hopeful recovery.

While the attackers fled the scene, the security forces deployed an exhaustive search operation, extending the work even to stations of the Metro Collective Transportation System, such as San Cosme and Normal. This deployment, which momentarily affected traffic, is a testament to the commitment to guarantee peace in the capital. The authorities have been emphatic in pointing out that no detonations were recorded within the Metro facilities and that the service was continuously normalized, demonstrating effectiveness and control.

This incident, although it moves us, does not define the essence of a city full of life and cultural wealth. On the contrary, it pushes us to be more aware, informed and strengthen our travel practices. Every challenge is a lesson disguised as an opportunity to grow, to improve our systems, and to support each other as a global network of human beings who care for each other.

We celebrate the bravery of the affected woman and send all our positive energy for her recovery. At the same time, we appreciate the dedication of the authorities and the medical staff who work tirelessly. Let’s transform this experience into a call to positive action: to research safety recommendations, to share knowledge and to travel with both love and caution. The world is full of wonders to discover, and together we can make each trip an experience not only memorable, but also safe.

They order the release of a former Cisen agent linked to the Colosio case

Court orders the release of former Cisen agent due to lack of evidence in Colosio's murder.

Without evidence, court orders freedom

A collegiate court ordered the release of Jorge Antonio Sánchez Ortega, former Cisen agent, upon determining that there is no evidence linking him to the murder of Luis Donaldo Colosio. Sánchez Ortega was recaptured in November 2025 by the FGR, which identified him as the second shooter in the assassination that occurred in March 1994 in Tijuana.

The former agent had received a formal prison order and was admitted to the Altiplano prison. However, the First Collegiate Court of Appeal in Toluca ruled that there is no conclusive evidence that links him to the crime committed by Mario Aburto Martínez. Furthermore, the court noted that the accused crime expired 12 years ago.

The resolution represents a new setback for the Attorney General’s Office, which can still resort to protection through Colosio’s relatives. However, the former candidate’s children, in particular Senator Luis Donaldo Colosio Riojas, have asked to close the case and even release Mario Aburto, who remains imprisoned in a prison in Guanajuato.

Hydrocarbon leak mobilizes authorities in Hidalgo

Since the weekend, a hydrocarbon leak has remained on the Pachuca-Ciudad Sahagún highway, in Mineral de la Reforma, Hidalgo. The Undersecretary of Civil Protection and Risk Management reported that coordinated work with Pemex to control the spill continues.

The incident was reported on Sunday after detecting a strong smell of fuel. An operation was deployed to locate the clandestine intake and avoid risks during the maneuvers.

Actions to contain fuel

Authorities built a temporary sump to contain and recover the hydrocarbon. They also carry out sanitation work to prevent environmental damage.

So far there is no risk to the population, so evacuation has not been required. The perimeter remains protected while the work continues.
