Made in the Jacinto López neighborhood
A young motorcyclist who worked as a tortilla deliveryman died this Wednesday in León, Guanajuato, after an agent of the State Public Security Forces (FSPE) activated his charge weapon.
The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on José María Coss Street, almost on the corner of José A. Godoy. The victim, identified as Luis Gerardo, 19, was left lying next to his vehicle.
According to the official report, the agents were carrying out preventive patrol when they told the driver to stop driving for a check. Since they did not comply with the instructions, a patrol and foot patrol began.
The statement from the Secretariat of Security and Peace adds that, upon being intercepted, the young man accelerated the motorcycle directly against the elements, which was interpreted as an attempt to run them over. Given the risk, an officer fired his weapon, causing the fatal injuries.
Subsequent actions
After the detonation, the area was secured and the corresponding protocols were activated. The agent requested medical support and was then placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry to carry out the necessary investigations and determine responsibilities.
The case has raised questions about the use of force in routine operations. The ministerial authority must clarify whether the official version coincides with the facts.
