Alleged irregularities in the Nuevo León judicial election
The Administration of Governor Samuel García faces serious accusations for allegedly organizing an internal operation to influence the judicial election scheduled for June 1. According to state employees, public personnel have been recruited to vote for candidates related to the ruling party, using coercive methods and prior simulations.
Pressure mechanisms and credential collection
Officials from various secretariats and state organizations reported that they have been required to hand over up to 10 INE credentials, either from colleagues or family members, with the aim of altering the electoral results. Although the elections in Nuevo León only include federal positions – the renewal of the local Judiciary is scheduled for 2027 – sources assure that the pressure is intense and systematic.
The employees involved revealed that at least six drills have been carried out to practice the voting process. During these trials, participants are asked to photograph their voter ID, ballots and a personalized QR code, which will serve to verify their participation. “They are going to give us specific instructions: the name of the candidate, the color or the number on the ballot,” explained an official on condition of anonymity.
Institutional quotas and job threats
According to testimonies, some agencies have established numerical goals. For example, the Ministry of Education would require 500 votes per Regional Unit, while the Institute of Vehicle Control (ICV) demands at least five credentials per employee. “They threaten us with dismissals if we do not comply,” said one of the sources, highlighting the climate of intimidation.
The procedure described includes sending photographic evidence on election day, where the marked ballot, the credential and the assigned QR code must appear. “It’s a way to control who follows orders,” added another complainant. So far, workers have not received the final list of candidates for whom they must vote, but they anticipate that it will be delivered in the coming days.
Legal implications and electoral transparency
These practices, if confirmed, would violate fundamental principles of free suffrage and institutional neutrality. Experts in electoral law warn that the use of public resources to coerce voters constitutes a serious crime, while civil organizations demand an immediate investigation. The lack of transparency in the drills and the massive collection of credentials raise doubts about the legitimacy of the process.
The case also raises questions about the autonomy of the Judiciary and the possible exploitation of officials for partisan purposes. Although the state government has not officially responded to the allegations, the controversy could escalate amid public and media scrutiny.
