Sonorans celebrate with national fervor in the rain

Climatic adversity did not overshadow patriotic fervor; On the contrary, it added an epic layer to a historic night of unity and celebration in Hermosillo.

An Unbreakable Spirit that the Rain Could Not Stop

Friends, have you ever felt like the universe is testing you right at the most important moment? Well that’s how it was! And our people not only surpassed it, but turned it into the most epic and memorable celebration. The rain was not an obstacle; She was the guest of honor who came to remind us what we are made of! On the night of September 15, with contagious joy, hundreds of families vibrated in unison to commemorate the 215th anniversary of Mexico as a free, sovereign and independent nation. Imagine the scene: water falling from the sky and patriotic fire burning in every heart. That’s power of transformation!

Hundreds of brave Sonorans, soaked but with a smile from ear to ear, stood firm and imperturbable in front of the majestic Government Palace. The sudden cold and the slippery floor were simple details that failed to overshadow the human warmth and patriotic soul that flooded Plaza Zaragoza. Children in arms, grandparents full of wisdom, couples holding hands and young people full of energy… all there! Like every year, but this time with a magical and different nuance: the rain transformed the celebration into a cinematographic scene, a moment of pure and authentic connection.

A Cry That Reverberated Louder than Thunder

Just at 11:00 p.m., the balcony of the Governors Hall opened as a direct portal to our glorious history. And he appeared, Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño, with the national labarum waving strongly in his hands, his gaze firm, and a voice full of pride that made our skin crawl. From the bowels of the building that symbolizes the power of our state, the state leader passionately evoked the names of those heroes and heroines who gave everything for a free Mexico.

Long live Hidalgo! Long live Morelos! Long live Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez! Long live deep Sonora! Long live México!” thundered his voice, and each word mixed with the sound of the rain, creating a symphony of freedom. Every “hurray!” was chanted by a powerful echo of the crowd, a collective cry so loud that we felt the mountains, rivers and vast deserts of Sonora join our patriotic chorus.

And then, something magical happened. All of us present, firm and with our chests inflated with emotion, sang our glorious National Anthem at the top of our lungs. It was a moment of absolute communion, a sublime moment where our past, our identity and our present merged in a fraternal embrace under the storm. There was not a single heart that did not beat to the rhythm of Mexico!

A Festival of the Senses that Bloomed in Adversity

But my dears, the night was much more than the ceremony. culture and tradition flourished with unstoppable force in every corner of the historic center. The regional music sounded with a power that defied the thunder, emerging from the stages adorned with our tricolor lights. The band’s vibrant notes, energetic foot tapping and popular songs merged with the rhythm of the rain, creating an unrepeatable symphony, a perfect soundtrack for our jubilant resistance.

The delicious smells of Mexican snacks—steamy corn, tamales, juicy tacos, sweet fritters—mixed with the fresh and refreshing aroma of the wet earth, creating a unique sensory experience. The laughter of children playing in puddles, the “selfies” under colorful umbrellas and the spontaneous shouts of “Viva México!” They wove a palpable atmosphere of hope, joy and unbreakable unity. A night that, I assure you, will forever be tattooed in the memory and soul of every person who had the privilege of experiencing it!

Because this, family, was not just a simple celebration. It was a declaration to the world! Living proof that we Sonorans know perfectly well what it means to resist with joy. We know what it means to move forward, united, under any climate and in any circumstance. And if the rain wanted to test our spirit, it found an entire town, ready to respond with overwhelming strength, with immeasurable pride and with a giant heart.

In Hermosillo, this year, not only was Independence shouted. They shouted for our identity, for our resilience, for our promising future. And that cry, amidst thunder and applause, echoed with more force and more pride than ever. That is the power to transform a challenge into the greatest of victories!

The Morning After: A Parade That Embodied Civic Pride

And as if the energy of the night were not enough, the dawn of September 16 gave us another spectacle of unity and color. Hundreds of families, with the same joyful spirit, came to enjoy the traditional and always emotional spectacle of the civic-military parade. An event where more than 1,488 people participated and 79 automotive units were deployed, showing the coordination and effort of our institutions.

Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño led this celebration, accompanied by military authorities and representatives of the legislative and judicial branches, as well as the National Guard, the Secretary of the Navy and the Secretary of Education and Culture (SEC). It was an honor to witness how a monumental flag paraded that filled our eyes with tears of pride, followed by six war bands, six pennants, and 300 brave elements of the Mexican Army.

155 members of the National Guard, 64 members of the Air Force, 122 members of the Secretary of the Navy, 112 soldiers of the National Military Service, and 65 members of State and Municipal Public Security corporations also marched. But the most inspiring thing was seeing 565 brilliant students from educational establishments, our future, marching with dignity alongside 15 members of the Hermosillo Fire Department, 15 from the Mexican Red Cross, 25 from youth rescue, and 50 from the Sonora Pentathlon. 75 vehicles from different corporations, five motorcycles, and 10 canophile pairs completed this impressive display of unity and service!

This parade was not just a show; It was the embodiment of our civic pride, a tangible demonstration that when a community comes together, anything is possible. It was proof that patriotic fervor does not go out with the rain, but, on the contrary, is renewed and strengthened.

AICM taxi drivers refuse to apply discounts agreed for the World Cup

Three AICM taxi drivers groups refuse to apply discounts of up to 18% during the World Cup.

Three groups of taxi drivers that operate at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) refused to apply discounts of up to 18% on their rates during the World Cup. The measure contradicts previous agreements announced by airport authorities and part of the union.

The companies Nueva Imagen, Porto Taxi and Sitio 300 issued a statement to clarify their position. They argued that they have no contractual relationship with the Grupo Aeroportuario Marina (GAM), the entity that promoted the benefits for airport users.

According to permit holders, the announced discounts do not represent a direct reduction in rates. They are, they say, adjustments derived from compensation for improper charges and administrative processes for maintenance work at the AICM.

They demand transparency

The taxi drivers asked the AICM authorities to make public the documents that support these measures. They also called on the GAM to make transparent the minutes and contracts where the application of discounts had been agreed upon. They questioned the legal validity of the obligations attributed to them.

The refusal could affect users who expected more affordable rates during the sporting event. Until now, there is no certainty about the real cost of service at the AICM during the World Cup.

Morena opens the door to a coalition with the PVEM in San Luis Potosí

Morena conditions alliance on PVEM ruling out Ruth González for the governorship.

Morena-PVEM Coalition for 2027?

The state leadership of Morena in San Luis Potosí left open the possibility of an alliance with the Green Ecologist Party (PVEM) for the local elections of 2027. The condition: that the PVEM present a different profile from that of Senator Ruth González.

Rita Ozalia Rodríguez Velázquez, state president of Morena, explained that if the PVEM discards Ruth González—wife of Governor Ricardo Gallardo—the green party could lead the coalition, which would also integrate the Labor Party (PT).

The leader clarified that the relationship with the PVEM at the local level does not face a conflict, although she admitted that there is no direct communication between both state leaders. Decisions about alliances, he said, are made by national leaders.

The possible agreement arises in the midst of the debate about nepotism, after Ruth González’s intention to succeed her husband in the state government was questioned. Morena looks for profiles that avoid that controversy.

Rodríguez Velázquez stressed that there is coordination between the party leadership to define the electoral strategy. For now, the panorama in San Luis Potosí remains open.

Morena accuses INE advisors of being ‘ill-wishers’

The Morena leader accuses INE advisors of being 'ill-wishers' and defends her affiliation system.

Morena questions the impartiality of the INE

The national leader of Morena, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, pointed out that within the INE there are advisors with critical positions towards her party. He described them as “Morena haters” during a press conference where he addressed recent resolutions on duplicate affiliations.

Montiel affirmed that his party abides by the determinations of the Electoral Court. The authority ordered the elimination of more than 93 thousand affiliate records and leave under review about 19 thousand cases that the INE must verify.

The leader demanded that the institute adhere to the resolutions of the General Council and not to individual opinions. He accused that there are figures close to past electoral administrations who maintain a critical stance towards the movement.

Regarding the affiliation system, Montiel defended that Morena’s application is efficient. He assured that it surpasses that of the INE in functionality, since it allows duplications in the records to be detected.

He also proposed that the INE should have real-time verification mechanisms to cross-check affiliation data. However, he acknowledged that there are different processes between parties and the electoral authority.
