The president advisor of the Public Local Electoral Organization (OPLE) Veracruz, Marisol Alicia Delgadillo Morales, reported that no application for independent candidacies was registered within the extraordinary election process, after the registration system closed at the end of the established legal period.
In an interview, Delgadillo Morales indicated that this situation will be formally notified to the General Council of the OPLE, in order to record that there were no people interested in running independently in this electoral process.
Likewise, he confirmed that this Thursday, at one in the afternoon, the installation session of the new Municipal Council will be held, an event that can be followed by citizens through the official social networks of the electoral body.
The presiding counselor recalled that the General Council previously approved the ratification of the majority of the people who made up the Municipal Council during the ordinary process. He explained that the new body will be made up mostly of women and a man as advisor, and specified that the presidency remains with the same person who led the ordinary process in the municipality of Tamiahua.
He explained that the electoral regulations allow such ratification, considering that the annulment of the ordinary election was not attributable to OPLE Veracruz or its personnel, who are legally authorized to continue in the exercise of their functions.
Delgadillo Morales also highlighted the permanent coordination that OPLE Veracruz maintains with the National Electoral Institute (INE) for the organization of the extraordinary election. He indicated that a work meeting was recently held to review the coordination agreement and the financial annex, which establishes the activities and costs that both institutions will assume.
He specified that the INE will be responsible for the training of polling station officials, as well as the location and installation of the board of directors, which will total 337 polling stations in this extraordinary process. He added that the calls for the integration of the tables and electoral assistance have already been issued.
Finally, the president advisor reiterated that OPLE Veracruz works to guarantee that the extraordinary election is carried out in accordance with the law, with certainty, legality and transparency, and invited citizens to stay informed and actively participate in the process.
