Presidential supervision of the sustainable mobility project
President Claudia Sheinbaum carried out this Sunday a detailed inspection of the construction progress of the Campeche Light Train, key infrastructure that will integrate the intermodal corridor with the Mayan Train. During the tour, he emphasized the pioneering nature of this electric transportation system, whose operation will begin on June 30 as scheduled.
Technology and institutional collaboration
In statements released through her official channels, the president specified that this train uses pantographs for its energy supply, a technology that positions it as a reference in sustainable mobility at the national level. “It is a unique model due to its multimodal integration and energy efficiency,” she stated during the supervision, where she was accompanied by Governor Layda Sansores.
The project will have a complementary fleet of buses acquired by the state government to optimize urban connectivity. Sheinbaum highlighted the coordination with the armed forces, particularly with the military engineers led by General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo (Secretary of Defense) and General González (commander of the local military zone).
“The military provides technical expertise in strategic works that will transform national mobility,” he noted. This collaboration reflects the inter-institutional management model that characterizes the megaprojects of the current administration.
Regional impact and international projection
The work, described by Sheinbaum as “technical preciousness”, will reduce travel times between the Mayan Train and the historic center of Campeche, boosting tourism and the local economy. Its electrical design prioritizes the reduction of polluting emissions, aligning with Mexico’s environmental commitments.
The inauguration ceremony, scheduled for June 30, will mark a milestone in the infrastructure of the southeast. “It will be a global benchmark in sustainable urban transportation,” anticipated the president, underlining the precision in execution deadlines despite the logistical challenges.
