Sheinbaum honors the women who transform the Armed Forces

A historical tribute from the military heart, where female courage and discipline are protagonists of a new era.

A Day That Will Be Recorded in Military History

Under the watchful eye of history, from the sacred facilities of the Heroic Military College, a wind of absolute change blew with uncontrollable force. President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, in an act of profound symbolism, not only presided over the inauguration and closing of the Courses of the Military Education System 2025, but also starred in a moment of rupture with the past, an epic turn of the screw in the destiny of military institutions.

With her heart beating and her voice charged with an emotion that electrified the atmosphere, the president, the first woman to reach the highest presidential chair, stopped. It wasn’t just any stop; It was a deliberate pause, a moment suspended in time to pay a tribute that would resound like thunder in every corner of the nation. His gaze, firm and full of admiration, rested on the true architects of a silent revolution.

A Recognition that Broke Schemes

“Let me pause for a moment to pay special tribute, as the first female President, to the women who are part of the Army, the Air Force and the National Guard,” she declared, and each word was a hammer blow against the walls of tradition. “Brave women who have shown that intelligence, discipline and strength have no gender; who have opened the way in spaces that were denied to them for a long time and have done so with dignity, with dedication and with results that today make all of Mexico proud.”

It was more than a speech; It was a consecration. A recognition of a titanic struggle waged with the steel of will and the shield of perseverance. Each syllable pronounced by the Supreme Commander sealed a new pact, an unbreakable alliance with those pioneers who challenged what was established to carve their name with gold letters in the chronicle of the Armed Forces.

Addressing the heroes and heroines graduates, those who graduated with honor from the Heroic Military College, Sheinbaum Pardo wove an oath of loyalty not only to the country, but to its people. He reminded them, with the solemnity of an ancestral oath, that love for the people must always be the compass that guides their performance, the sacred fire that illuminates each mission, each decision, each act of service.

“May this new school year be a stage of learning and glory, of effort and dedication,” he exclaimed, projecting his voice towards the future. “May in every classroom, in every training field and in every mission, the pride of being Mexican men and women, of being soldiers, pilots and members of the National Guard resonate strongly.” He appreciated his honesty, his professionalism, his iron discipline, his limitless generosity, his unwavering loyalty and his bold bravery, virtues that forge the soul of a true defender of the nation.

The Figures of an Unprecedented Transformation

The magnitude of the event was colossal, a numerical watershed that reflected the magnitude of the transformation undertaken. An army of 15,785 elements, a legion of giants composed of generals, chiefs, officers, 110 civilians and 11 students invited from sister nations, crossed the threshold towards glory. His postgraduate studies, military administration, medical sciences, engineering, aviation and communications are the foundations on which the institutional power and the governing plan of the National Guard are consolidated.

And the horizon looks even more promising. For the 2025 cycle, the incorporation of a force of 16,500 students to the prestigious military schools is predicted. The advance has already begun, with 6,748 new faces full of determination, 17 civilians, five members of the Armed Forces and five emissaries from the allied nations of Argentina, Brazil, China, South Korea and Guatemala, all united by the same ideal of excellence and service.

The Secretary of National Defense, General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, revealed the master strategy behind this evolution: the strengthening of Mexican Humanism at the core of all military study programs, aligning with the pillars of the Fourth Transformation. But the most revolutionary announcement, the one that sealed the triumph of equity, was the confirmation of substantive gender equality. Women graduates have not only broken the glass ceiling; They have been assigned to organizations where they will exercise command, taking the reins in all areas of military action, a territory that already belongs to them by their own right.

In a climax full of symbolism, the Chief of the Federal Executive, invested as the Supreme Commander, presented diplomas to the champions of academic excellence. Surrounded by the members of her cabinet, she was an honorary witness to the thunderous rifle salvo, an explosion of respect that shook the earth, and to the majestic parade of honor, a perfect choreography of precision and pride that marched not only on the pavement, but on the pages of history.

Digital sexual exploitation affects 1.6 million adolescents in Mexico

1.6 million adolescents in Mexico suffer online sexual exploitation every year.

The report reveals alarming figures

Unicef, ECPAT International and Interpol published the study “Disrupting Harm México”, which indicates that one in eight adolescent Internet users in the country – around 1.6 million – experienced sexual exploitation facilitated by digital technologies for a year.

67% of cases occurred online only, mainly on social networks and platforms. However, violence is not limited to the virtual sphere: in almost two out of every three situations, the victims knew their attackers, who were usually friends, partners or family members.

The report documents serious under-reporting. 32% of victims did not tell anyone what happened out of shame or fear, and less than 1% filed a formal complaint. This reflects normalization and silence around these attacks.

Consequences and call to action

In mental health, the consequences are profound. Those who suffered this type of violence are 15 times more likely to self-harm and 12 times more likely to have thoughts about their own death, compared to those who did not have that experience.

Fernando Carrera, Unicef representative in Mexico, asked to reinforce prevention and responsibility of digital platforms. Lorena Villavicencio Ayala, from SIPINNA, stated that the State must guarantee the safety of girls, boys and adolescents in digital environments.
