The Secretary of the Navy (Semar) maintains an operational force of 79 thousand elements distributed in the Pacific, Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea and the interior of the country. The objective is to guarantee surveillance and response capacity throughout the territory.
This deployment is supported by 130 ships, 121 small boats, 45 helicopters, 47 airplanes, nine unmanned aerial systems and 99 drones and anti-drones.
High impact operations
Semar has the Special Operations Unit, equipped with special forces, paratrooper commandos and combat divers. This allows surgical operations to be carried out without firing shots, according to the agency.
Intelligence operations focus on obtaining and analyzing information, digital evidence and satellite images to support strategic decisions.
Results in the current administration
In the maritime and land sphere, Semar has seized 71.4 tons of cocaine, of which nine seizures occurred in the last eight weeks. 77 vessels were also intercepted, three low profile. In addition, 149,171 liters of fuel were seized and 249 people were made available, including 96 foreigners.
In ports and airports, 2.1 tons of cocaine, more than 9 tons of marijuana, 3.3 tons of methamphetamine and more than 332 tons of precursor chemicals for synthetic drugs were seized.
Semar maintains a presence in ports and airports with nine airport protection units and 22 naval units, with 3,834 elements. The agency stressed that these results economically affect criminal organizations.
