The deadliest night in kyiv
During the early hours of Monday morning, Russia carried out one of the most severe air offensives in recent months against Ukraine. The balance: at least 22 dead and dozens injured, according to official sources.
kyiv concentrated the weight of the attack. Russian forces fired 351 drones and 68 missiles, including 29 ballistic missiles that managed to hit their targets. In the capital, 15 people died and another 56 were injured. Seven additional deaths were recorded in the kyiv region. Rescue teams continue searching for survivors in the rubble.
The urgency of the Patriots
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that these attacks reinforce the immediate need to receive more Patriot interceptor missiles.
“Ukraine maintains the capacity to shoot down drones and cruise missiles, but faces serious limitations against ballistic projectiles,” he declared.
The president will seek to reinforce that request during the next NATO summit in Türkiye.
For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense assured that the bombings were directed against weapons factories, energy infrastructure and military installations in kyiv.
“We will respond with more intense attacks if the West increases the supply of weapons to Ukraine,” Moscow warned.
The attack exposes the wear and tear of Ukrainian anti-aircraft systems and Russia’s growing ability to overwhelm defenses with ballistic missiles.
