The swarm spreads
The PVEM bench in the Senate does not mince words: it wants the Swarm Operation to fly higher. They urged six key agencies—SSPC, Sedena, Semar, National Guard, CNI and FGR—to take this strategy to the 36 municipalities with the thorniest crime rates in the country.
“Senator Juanita Guerra argued that this is in order to prevent, investigate and punish acts of corruption and possible links with organized crime by municipal authorities.”
What is this swarm biting?
Guerra revealed the harsh reality: public security in Mexico not only battles criminal groups, but also against their infiltration into institutions, especially at the municipal level. The federal government had already launched this operation as a coordination mechanism between security forces and intelligence to dismantle local corruption networks.
“Operation Swarm is a coordinated strategy between federal forces and state prosecutors whose objective is to dismantle criminal networks embedded in local governments.”
The target: municipalities with money
It is no coincidence that they target areas with high strategic economic activity. There, according to the senator, officials would use public power to extort businessmen or give oxygen to criminal groups. It sounds like an old story, but with a new name.
The PVEM steps on the accelerator. We will see if the authorities respond or this remains another nice exhortation that is filed.
