Phil Mickelson has been removed from an exclusive golf club in San Diego for inappropriate conduct with an employee. The information was published by Golf Digest this Thursday.
Incident details
The incident occurred earlier this spring at The Farms Golf Club, located in Rancho Santa Fe, California. According to sources cited by the media, the six-time major tournament champion is no longer welcome at the facilities where he played and practiced for decades.
Mickelson, a central figure in the launch of the LIV Golf league, served as the circuit’s main recruiter. The unwanted contact with the employee led to the measure taken by the club’s board.
To date, neither Mickelson nor his representation have issued public statements regarding the allegations. The Farms Golf Club has also not officially confirmed the expulsion.
The case adds to other controversies that have surrounded the golfer in recent years, including his comments about the creation of LIV Golf and his distancing from the PGA Tour. The investigation is still ongoing, but the club’s decision is now effective.
