Pachuca and América fight the women’s battle for the title

The Gophers and the Eagles collide in an epic duel for women's glory. Who will strike the first blow?

The women’s grand final: Did anyone really think this wasn’t going to be dramatic?

Oh, what a surprise. Another final of the Liga MX Femenil where Pachuca and América decide to make us suffer with their comings and goings. Because, of course, what would football be without a bit of unnecessary drama? The Águilas, those show-offs who already lifted the trophy in the Clausura 2023, sneak into the party again. Meanwhile, the Gophers, those eternal star hopefuls, arrive with the hope that this time they will have the champions’ dance. How beautiful! (Or what torture, depending on who you ask.)

The road to the final: Or how to eliminate rivals without mercy

Pachuca, in their eagerness to show that they are not just “the others” of Mexican soccer, decided to clean up: first the Atlas, then the Rayadas (yes, the two-time champions, because why not?). Meanwhile, America, always so America, got rid of the Bravas (who had nothing brave left) and then the Chivas (because what would a classic be without someone coming out crying). Everything is very normal, nothing to do with a sports soap opera script.

RelatedAmérica Femenil will compete in an international 7-a-side soccer tournament

And now, the Hidalgo Stadium will be the scene of this tragicomedy. Because? Because the rules say that second place in the table (America, in case you weren’t paying attention) has the “privilege” of closing at home. In other words, basically, Pachuca must win no matter what in this first leg, because if not, we already know how this ends: with the Águilas celebrating and the rest of the country feigning indifference.

The battle of ambitions: First title vs. third star

The Tuzas want their first title as if it were the last churro at the party. The Eagles, on the other hand, already have two little stars on their chest and are going for the third as if it were a divine right. Who will win? Nobody knows, but everyone will have a strong opinion about it (especially on Twitter).

And so you don’t miss this spectacle of overflowing passions and goals (or lack thereof), here are the details:

When? Friday, May 9 (because Fridays are for football, obviously).

Time? 8:00 p.m. (perfect for dinner with a little post-game stress).

Where to watch it?TUBI (yes, that platform you probably didn’t know existed until now).

So get ready, because this promises to be as unpredictable as the weather in May. Who will win? Will Pachuca break its curse? Will America confirm its reign? Or, better yet, will there be penalties? (Please don’t).

Don’t miss it and share the drama with your friends! Or do you prefer to keep the suffering to yourself? If you liked this display of football sarcasm, explore more content where we break down the sport with acid humor.

United States advances to the round of 16 after beating Bosnia

The United States wins 2-0 despite playing with ten men for half an hour.

Agonizing victory with one less man

The United States team secured its place in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup by beating Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0 at the San Francisco Bay Stadium. The high-intensity match left moments of tension and an expulsion that marked the development.

The first goal came just before halftime. Folarin Balogun took advantage of a deviation in the Bosnian defense and made it 1-0 in the 45th minute. However, the advantage was complicated in the second half: Balogun himself received a direct red card in the 64th minute after a strong tackle that injured defender Tarik Muharemovic.

Despite playing with ten, the local team resisted and sealed the victory in the 82nd minute. Malik Tillman executed a spectacular free kick with his right foot to make it 2-0.

With this result, the United States will face Belgium next Monday, July 6 at Seattle Stadium. Balogun’s expulsion could have consequences for that match, although the team showed the ability to overcome adversity.

Harry Kane is already thinking about Mexico: “Extraordinary match”

Harry Kane analyzes the next duel against Mexico after securing a place in the second round.

Kane warns: Mexico will be a bigger challenge

With the ticket to the round of 16 secured, Harry Kane broke the silence. The England captain scored a double in the victory over the Democratic Republic of the Congo and now focuses his attention on the next opponent: Mexico.

Respect for the Tricolor

The forward recognized the quality of the team led by Javier Aguirre, who arrives with high morale after eliminating Ecuador. Kane made it clear that the duel will not be easy.

“It’s time to enjoy the moment, come back, regain strength and think about the next game, which will be even more difficult: against Mexico. In Mexico, what an extraordinary game awaits us. Obviously, we will soon change the chip to focus on that, but for now, let’s just enjoy these moments,” he declared.

Pride of wearing the shirt

The attacker also expressed his satisfaction with the collective performance. “Achieving a comeback like the one we achieved is something extremely gratifying; I feel proud of the group, proud of the boys. It was a tough game and, personally, wearing the England shirt is one of the things I like the most,” he concluded.

England is already waiting for a rival in the next phase. Mexico, for its part, will seek to surprise one of the favorites for the title.
