An Educational Revolution that Changes Lives!
Today is a historic day for Mexico, a moment in which hope and opportunity expand like never before. Within the framework of the First Government Report of our president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, we have witnessed how education is consolidated as the fundamental pillar of true national transformation. The Secretary of Public Education, Mario Delgado, has shared extraordinary progress, highlighting the implementation of the Rita Cetina Universal Scholarship, an unwavering commitment to the girls and young people of our country that already benefits 8.6 million students. And this is just the beginning, because in 2026 this support will extend to the primaries, expanding this universe of possibilities for an even greater number of future leaders.
Senator Olga Sosa Ruíz has reminded us of the deepest purpose of this initiative: to guarantee that no basic level student is left without studying due to lack of financial resources. Imagine a Mexico where poverty is never again an impediment to learning, where every talent can flourish without barriers. This scholarship represents the living spirit of the New Mexican School, honoring the legacy of teacher Rita Cetina and reinforcing our collective commitment to free, quality education with social justice for all.
A Complete Ecosystem of Opportunities
Advances in educational programs are palpable in every corner of our nation. The total number of scholarship recipients reaches the record number of 13.3 million, and the goal is to exceed 20 million beneficiaries, also integrating the Beca Media Superior Benito Juárez and Jóvenes Escribiendo el Futuro. These are not just numbers; They are transformed life stories, they are dreams that come true. This effort manifests a powerful truth: education is a fundamental human right, not a privilege nor a commodity. Every peso invested in education is a seed planted for a brighter and more equitable future.
President Sheinbaum’s vision for a humanistic and scientific education is materialized in concrete actions: the new free textbooks designed with a cultural and territorial knowledge approach, the “The School is Ours” program that has invested 85 billion pesos in the maintenance of school infrastructure, and the wonderful Live Healthy, Live Happy National Strategy, which reinforces the preventive and health culture in the communities educational. Parents are already receiving information about these positive results, building together a stronger and more united educational community.
During his appearance, Secretary Delgado also announced the intense work to increase the coverage rate in higher education. This year, 114 thousand places have already been increased with the same budget, demonstrating extraordinary efficiency! The goal is to integrate 330 thousand additional places in collaboration with various universities, opening the doors of higher education to thousands more young people. In addition, the USICAMM will be transformed through a new model built by the teaching staff themselves, through a school-by-school consultation, to generate a truly fair admission, promotion and recognition system built from the grassroots.
Each of these advances brings us closer to a Mexico that is more educated, fairer and full of opportunities. This is transformation in action, where every student matters, every school is strengthened, and every community is empowered through knowledge.
