The Spanish actress faces the controversy firmly
Karla Sofía Gascón, recognized for her Oscar nomination for “Emilia Pérez”, has been the center of criticism on social networks after controversial comments from her past resurfaced on Twitter. Despite the accusations of racism, the actress maintains a firm stance: “I don’t regret anything, because I would stop being me,” she declared during an event prior to the PLATINO Awards.
The impact on your career and future projects
The controversy led Gascón to temporarily distance himself from the production of “Emilia Pérez” to avoid affecting other nominations. However, the actress assures that the controversy was “caused by others” and emphasizes her pride in her mental strength. “The networks are a lie,” he stated, sending a message to young people who face digital bullying.
On the professional front, Gascón revealed that he is waiting to start filming two projects: “The Life Lift”, a psychological thriller where she will play a psychiatrist, and “Las Malas”, directed by Armando Bo, screenwriter of “Birdman”. Regarding the latter, he confessed: “I loved the book, I hope we can do it.”.
A respite in the world of football
Prior to the PLATINO Awards ceremony, the actress participated in the Meeting of the Stars, a charity match where she shared a team with figures such as actor Claudio Cataño and former soccer player Juan Pablo Sorín. Gascón, a fan of the UNAM Pumas and Hugo Sánchez, joked when facing former goalkeeper Iker Casillas: “They should have put him on my team.”
The PLATINO Awards, which recognize the best of Ibero-American cinema and series, will be held this Sunday, where Gascón will attend as a special guest.
