When the “King of the Box Office” said “finally, Reynosa”, and the public responded “it’s about time”
On the night of May 17, Julión Álvarez decided that Reynosa had already suffered enough without him and appeared with his Norteño Banda for a concert that, between tears of emotion and spilled beers, confirmed why he is the absolute owner of the Mexican regional. The Adolfo López Mateos Park became the epicenter of the chaos organized by Espectáculos Romanse Enterprise, where 3,000 souls (more or less counted between screams) chanted as if there were no tomorrow.
Setlist: Hits, nostalgia and lungs to the limit
From the first chord of “Pongámos de Agree” to the last breath of “Terrenal”, Julión reviewed his repertoire as if it were a Netflix marathon: impossible to stop. “You Would Have Gone Before” played ironically when no one wanted to leave, “King Without a Queen” made half a stadium cry (yes, even those who swear they don’t have a heart), and “Arboles de la Barranca” was the unofficial anthem of the night. The result? Three hours of pure controlled chaos, because when Julión sings, even the shyest person becomes an opera singer.
The show started at 11:00 p.m. (that is, just when millennials were beginning to wonder if it was worth leaving the house) and ended after 02:00, because, obviously, no one wanted it to end. People from Texas, Río Bravo, Matamoros and even Monterrey traveled as if it were a religious pilgrimage. Spoiler: it was worth every kilometer.
Cakes, selfies and the power of fandom
Before the concert, Julión did what every self-respecting idol does: photos with fans (which later flooded Instagram) and accepted a personalized cake from a local bakery. Because nothing says “I love you” like a cake with your face on it. Among the audience, Silvia Elías, Yeya Reyna, and even a group from Brownsville demonstrated that music has no borders… although the post-concert traffic does.
The verdict? Reynosa paid homage to the King of the Box Office, and Julión confirmed that, in the world of Mexican regional, his throne is firmer than the Wi-Fi in a taco shop at 3 AM.
