The suspension that changes the script
Brian Alexis and Eduardo Josafat, two faces among those detained during that massive mobilization of Generation Z on November 15, are hours away from regaining their freedom. His trial for the crime of injuries has been conditionally suspended, as confirmed by his defense lawyer and sources within the ministry.
This Friday afternoon, legal representative Ricardo Colorado gave the news that their families were waiting for. The judicial measure has been signed and it is expected that both will leave the North Men’s Preventive Prison in the next few hours.
“Brian and Josafat are two of those detained for the events of last Saturday who still remain in prison, the rest of the accused are currently free,” explained Colorado.
The stories behind the names
As the legal procedure progressed, the families wove narratives very different from the official version. Brian’s family reported that the young man was attacked during his capture. They insisted that that Saturday he had only gone to the center to buy material to repair mobile devices, since he has a small workshop at home.
On the other hand, Josaphat’s family assured that their only objective was to document the demonstration. Two versions that collide head-on with the accusation of injuries, painting a picture where perhaps there was only presence in the wrong place.
Now, the conditional suspension of the process marks a turning point. It is not an absolute end, but it is a huge respite in this judicial drama. It remains to be seen what follows in this chapter for these two young men and what this says about the treatment of those who were there that day.
