Road emergency due to trailer fire in Salinas Victoria
A fire in a trailer loaded with 18 tons of ocote wood caused the partial closure of the Monterrey-Laredo Highway during the night of Wednesday. The flames, which started in the cabin and completely consumed the unit, spread to an adjacent wooded area, affecting approximately 50 meters of vegetation.
Control operation and effects
According to reports from State Civil Protection, the accident occurred around 9:00 p.m. at kilometer 47, south-north direction. Firefighter and rescue teams worked for more than four hours to put out the flames, which forced the closure of both lanes of the road. The reopening took place at 01:06 a.m., after guaranteeing the safety of the drivers.
Logistics impact: The closure generated congestion on one of the key trade routes between Mexico and the United States. The loading of the vehicle, owned by Grupo Forestal Mexicano, accelerated the spread of the fire, requiring specialized protocols to avoid further environmental damage.
