Border theater rises in tone: drones in the sky
The United States Embassy in Mexico sent a clear and forceful message. He announced that “advanced drones” are now patrolling the US southern border “day and night, 24/7.” The objective is only one: avoid irregular migration.
This is not just another measure. It’s part of the tough script that President Donald Trump’s administration has been writing for more than a year. A script where the rejection of crossing people is a main character.
“If someone tries to cross ‘it will end badly,'” the diplomatic representation warned in a brief but dramatic message on social networks.
The tone is one of pure deterrence. The embassy urged migrants not to even try, ensuring that “The United States has eyes in the sky over the southern border,” that line that borders several Mexican states.
A campaign with severe warnings
Accompanying the text, a video made the position even clearer. It states that the United States is “vigorously securing our border” and “expelling illegal aliens.” The promise, or rather the threat, is direct:
“If you cross illegally you will be captured and expelled.”
This message does not arrive alone. It is the latest chapter in a sustained campaign to persuade people. A campaign dedicated to warning of “serious legal consequences”, including jail, for those who attempt the crossing.
In previous acts of this same work, the embassy, headed by Ronald Johnson, had already warned about another sinister character: the “polleros”. He accused these traffickers of using social networks to spread “false hopes” among migrants, offers that he simply called “a lie.”
The intended impact of these advanced drones is twofold: deter migrants and reinforce security in a region where concern about irregular migration only grows. It is a technological setting for a human drama that seems far from over.
