The actor who doesn’t want to be a messenger
Diego Olivera is clear about it. Your job is to interpret, not preach. The Argentine, who joins the cast of “Corazón de oro” this March 2, disclaims any intention of transmitting moral lessons through his roles.
“I am an actor, I basically play characters and the messages are not my responsibility”,
He drops the sentence with the calmness of someone who has already had this conversation before. In Pedro Ortiz de Pinedo’s new production for Las Estrellas, he will share the screen with Mayrín Villanueva, Gabriel Soto and Gala Montes.
A businessman without filters (and without guilt)
Olivera plays Eugenio Arango Nova. A tough guy, obsessed with self-interest and used to always getting his way. His dynamic with Villanueva’s character will be… complicated, to say the least.
But here’s the thing: the actor loves it.
“I don’t question it. The reality is that I defend my character to the death, but I would never be a Eugenio,”
explains. He clarifies that this type of behavior “does not enter my mental structure”. However, he celebrates playing someone so direct and unabashed.
For him, the real world is already filled with enough bad news. He doesn’t see why his job should join the bombardment.
“If you want to see hate, murders, bad news, put on a news program. As an actor, I don’t have to tell people that there is no hope in the world,”
sentence.
His stance is an interesting reminder in a time where all content seems to have to say something. Olivera prefers to simply do her job: act.
